For those of you who have been waiting for the day; yes,
Rejaw has made it's Ping.fm landing. Rejaw is new and fun (and also allows you to post 1000 characters of fun instead of 140 or so). They are in full-fledged open registration, so why don't you go in there and take a peek?
In addition to the newest addition, we've added a couple new features/settings to control your posts a little more. If you notice on your
default settings page, there is an option to disable link shortening and another one to "adjust grammar."
The link shortening option just allows you to control whether or not we should automatically shorten links you post in your messages. Some people have requested this, so we did it up. You can still leave link shortening enabled and put a * before any links you want to remain unshortened without making ALL links you post unshortened.
Next, the adjust grammar option is a slick little feature that will prepend your posts to sites like Facebook, MySpace and alike with "said:" instead of your post just saying "Your Hanging out at the mall." Checking the box will format the post to say "Your Name said: Hanging out at the mall." Also, with this option, you can put a wildcard at the beginning of your post to represent that you are posting a status update (is hanging...) to your social networks and for the ones that don't prepend your service username, we will include your Ping.fm profile name. For example: You post "% is hanging out at the mall." This would show up on Facebook like "Your Name is hanging out at the mall." and would show up on a site like Pownce or Brightkite like "Your Ping.fm Name is hanging out at the mall." It prevents your updates from not making any sense and is just better all around. It's optional too, so if you like nonsense, you can leave it off!
We are working on a few major updates on the site. We are creating a way for you to manage all of your photos (and soon videos) posted through Ping.fm in a nice little centralized media manager that will allow for submission comments and syncronization with other photo hosting sites like Flickr, Photobucket and sites alike.
Last but not least, master pinger Matt (
@mjacob) has developed a very cool WordPress plugin that allows you to use your Ping.fm
custom URL to make updates to your self-hosted WordPress blog. This is something that a lot of you have been looking for and now you have it. Get over there and check it out this instant.
Ping on my wayward son!
